Introduction of Melt blown Fabric for Face Mask

Melt blown Fabric

It should be known that domestic melt-blown non-woven fabrics were relatively niche, with an annual production capacity of 53,500 tons, accounting for 1% of the non-woven production capacity. They are mainly used to produce masks, environmentally friendly materials, clothing, battery separators, and other products. The short-term expansion is slow. This is mainly due to the limitation of the long delivery cycle of production equipment and high technical requirements for personnel operation. It is difficult to quickly increase the production capacity of melt-blown fabrics in a short time.

Melt-blown cloth, the full name of melt-blown non-woven fabric, is a key material for bringing virus filtering effect to masks. It has ultra-fine fibers with static electricity. In addition to blocking larger dust particles, it can also attract fine dust, bacteria, and viruses through the static charge on the surface.

Medical masks generally adopt a multi-layer structure, referred to as SMS structure: a single layer of the spun-bond layer (S) inside and outside, a single layer, or multiple layers of the melt-blown layer (M) in the middle, the melt-blown cloth is the best meltblown layer material. Meltblown fabric is a kind of non-woven fabric.

Non-woven fabrics, also known as non-woven fabrics, are composed of oriented or random fibers, without warp and weft, and are named because of their appearance and certain properties similar to woven fabrics. There are many processing techniques for non-woven fabrics, such as spunbond, melt-blown, hot-rolled, spun lace, etc. Among them, the non-woven fabric made by a melt-blown method is called melt-blown non-woven fabric. The melt-blown method refers to a spinning method in which a polymer melt that has just been extruded is rapidly stretched and solidified by high-speed hot airflow. The non-woven fabric produced by the melt-blown method has finer fibers, larger surface area, and better filtering, shielding, heat insulation, and oil absorption properties, which are unmatched by non-woven fabrics produced by other processes.

Therefore, the melt-blown cloth is used in medical and industrial mask production, and can also be used in many fields such as thermal insulation materials, filter materials, medical and hygienic materials, oil-absorbing materials, wiping cloths, battery separators and even sound insulation materials. There are not many domestic large-scale manufacturers capable of producing melt-blown fabrics, and the industry as a whole shows a small and scattered situation. The industry has long lacked attention and has been tepid.
