Dye sublimation may sound intimidating, but we promise that it’s anything but. In short:

Sublimation ink can convert from a solid to a gas without going through the liquid form, which allows you to apply an image to specially coated materials using heat and pressure.

Simple enough, right? Although the process is easy to explain, there are a lot of things to consider before you start dye subbing.

Firstly, What kind of material should you print on? You can use any polyester or polymer-coated substrates. However, you must purchase something that is already coated; this is not something you can do on your own. What will you need? For dye sublimation, you’ll need a dye sub printer, dye sub paper, a heat press and your poly-coated product.
Sublimation printing is a technique that uses heat sensitive inks. These inks turn into gas under the influence of heat and combine with a 100% polyester medium. Since the ink becomes part of the structure of the material, the images on the fabric don’t fade or crack - even after multiple washings.
